Introduction In this document, how to install the USB Floppy Disk Driver and how to use it under Windows NT 4.0 are described. This document is constructed as follows: 1. Introduction 2. Requirement 3. How to install 4. How to uninstall 5. Driver features 6. Known limitation 2. Requirement This driver is available under the following system construction. Target machine : PORTEGE 3440/3410 Series Target OS : Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 6a or later) 3. How to install 1) Start Windows NT 4.0, and logon as Administrator class user. 2) Open the folder included setup files for this driver from "My Computer" or "Explorer". 3) Run the "SETUP.EXE" by double click. 4) When the installation is completed and "Setup complete" window is appeared, click the "Finish" button and reboot the system. 4. How to uninstall 1) Start Windows NT 4.0, logon as Administrator class user. 2) Double click "Add/Remove Programs" in "Control Panel". 3) On "Install/Uninstall" tab, select "USBFDD Driver" and click "Add/Remove" button. 4) When "Confirm File Deletion" window is appeared, press "Yes" button. 5) When "Uninstall successfully completed." is appeared in "Remove Programs From Your Computer" window, press "OK" button. 6) Reboot the system. 5. Driver features < HotPlugIn and HotPlugOut > This driver supports the HotPlugIn and HotPlugOut of the USB floppy disk drive under Windows NT 4.0. If the HotPlugIn[HotPlugOut] is executed, the icon is appeared[disappeared] on "My Computer" or "Explorer". When USB floppy disk drives are detected by the system, they are assigned logical drive letters. Each one hot plugged in will receive the next logical drive letter, available at the moment it is plugged in. < Suspend > "Toshiba Power Management System" allows the computer to suspend. If you execute to suspend while the system accesses to the floppy disk, access error is occurred and access procedure is interrupted. 6. Known limitation < Assignment of Drive Letter > While the system is working and if the user has connected USB floppy disk drive randomly to the USB port, the drive letters for the USB floppy disk drive will be assigned in the connected order. Though, restarting the system in this situation, the drive letters will be assigned according to the priority order of the USB port. Example: Connect USB-FDD(1) to USB-HUB port#2, the drive letter will be assigned to "A:". Connect USB-FDD(2) to USB-HUB port#1, the drive letter will be assigned to "B:". Then the system is restarted, the drive letter of USB-FDD(1) will be assigned to "B:", and that of USB-FDD(2) will be assigned to "A:".
