Kernel

The kernel is the master program (core) of the Solaris operating system. It manages devices, memory, swap, processes, and daemons. The kernel also controls the functions between the system programs and the system hardware.

Keyword

A keyword is a word that designates a character string to search for.

Korn Shell

The Korn shell is effectively a superset of the Bourne shell. It has many of the Bourne shell features and added features such as aliasing and history.

.kshrc

If the ENV variable is set to .kshrc in the $ Home/.profile file, the .kshrc file is executed each time a new shell is forked and at login. The .kshrc file contains user aliases or settings to be exported to new shells. The .kshrc file does not have a template in the /etc/skel directory and must be created by the superuser if a standard shell environment is desired.
