1.5 Assembling and Cabling WAN Components
1.5.4 Making the network adaptable
When selecting a branch office router, typical Cisco solutions include the following:
  •  Cisco 700 series (760 or 770)
  •  Cisco 800 series
  •  Cisco 1000 series

Cisco 700 Series (760 or 770)

The Cisco 700M family products are low-cost, easy-to-manage multiprotocol ISDN access routers. These devices provide small professional offices, home offices, and telecommuters with high-speed remote access to enterprise networks and the Internet.

Cisco 800 Series

The Cisco 800 Series router is the entry-level platform that contains Cisco IOS technology. Ideal for use as customer premises equipment (CPE), service providers can lease or sell Cisco 800 series routers to small offices with Ethernet LANs for Internet access using Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) connections.

Cisco 1000 Series

The Cisco 1000 series LAN extenders and routers are easy-to-install, inexpensive, multiprotocol access products, designed for small offices and other remote sites.

It is important to choose the router that supports the WAN protocols and interfaces that you will use. The router in the Figure is a Cisco 1000 router.
