B.2 Configuring The Cisco 700 Series
B.2.2 System-level configuration
Use the set switch global command to specify the CO switch to which the router connects. For BRI ISDN service, the switch type can be one of those listed in Table .

Auto-detect of ISDN switch type is available in later versions of the Cisco IOS 700. Separate Cisco IOS 700 images may require country-specific switches. The default if no switch is specified is basic-5ess. Several ISDN providers use ISDN switches that operate on dial-in numbers called SPIDs, which are used to authenticate that call requests are within contract specifications. These switches include National ISDN-1 and DMS-100 ISDN switches, as well as the AT&T 5 Electronic Switching System (5ESS) switch. The set 1 spid and set 2 spid commands are used on some switches and are replacements for subaddresses. The local SPID number is supplied by the service provider.

The following command line shows the syntax for the first BRI 64-Kbps channel. Table describes the list of ISDN-related commands:

IOS-700>set 1 spid spid-number [ldn]

The system profile sets parameters that apply to all profiles on the selected router, unless overridden in the user profile. This is also called the global configuration. Example shows a sample system-level configuration.
