The MAC address used by the virtual
router is made up of the following three components:
- Vendor ID - The vendor ID
comprises the first three bytes of the MAC address.
- HSRP code - These 2 bytes indicate
that the MAC address is for an HSRP virtual router. The HSRP
code is always 07.ac.
- Group ID - The last byte of the
MAC address is the group ID number. In the example, decimal
group number 47 is being converted to hexadecimal 2f.
To display the virtual IP and MAC
address use the command show standby in
privileged EXEC mode.
