OEM
- Original equipment manufacturer is a supplier who builds parts for systems.
There are very few if any manufacturers that build all parts of a modern system.
ONC
- Open network computing (ONC) is a family of distributed services included in
the Solaris computing environment. It enables transparent and high-performance
access to multivendor information and computing resources across a corporation.
OpenWindows Environment
- The OpenWindows(TM) environment is a
graphical user interface (GUI) between the user and the operating system.
Through the GUI, the user controls activities in windows using the mouse and the
keyboard. The OpenWindows environment provides built-in menus for users to
select and run utilities and programs without using Solaris 2.5 commands. With
the OpenWindows environment, the user can control multiple working documents or
applications on the screen at the same time.
Other
- Other is anyone who is neither the file owner nor a member of the group
associated with the file. In the OpenWindows environment, the group other is
referred to as world.
Output
- Ouput is any information produced by a command, program, or such, and sent to
a destination; for example, to the terminal, to a file, or to a printer.
Owner
- The owner of the file identifies the user to whom the file belongs. When you
create a new file or directory, it is owned by you.
