| Cursor positioning commands are used in command
mode when there is existing text and you want to move around the
document. On most UNIX workstations, the cursor control keys can be
used to position the cursor to begin editing. However, a number of
additional shortcut keystrokes and key sequences are available that
can be faster than using the cursor arrow keys. In addition, some dumb
terminals do not support arrow keys, and cursor movement must be done
using the other positioning methods. The Figure lists the vi editor's
cursor positioning commands, which are helpful when moving around the
screen. The vi editor is case-sensitive, so be sure to use the
specified case when using the positioning commands.
