Overview
This chapter provides an introduction to networking technologies and concepts. We will cover the most common examples of networking architectures, protocols and topologies, and explain the concept of client-server networking. You will work with UNIX network commands and utilities such as ping (packet internet groper), Telnet (terminal emulator) , rlogin (remote login) and ftp (file transfer protocol). We will also introduce Network Information System (NIS+) and Network File System (NFS).
