Printing services are an essential component of any network operating system. UNIX provides local and remote printing capabilities. In this chapter, you will learn about the various hardware and software elements that provide printing services in the UNIX environment. You will work with several methods of printing including printing from the command line and from File Manager. You will learn how to determine the status and availability of network printers you can print to. We will also cover the monitoring of the print queue status and the management of print requests using UNIX commands and CDE Print Manager.
