Overview
In the previous chapter, you were introduced to X.25. Frame Relay, presented in this chapter, is a next-generation protocol to X.25.

This chapter presents Frame Relay technology, including its benefits and requirements. You will see how Frame Relay can be used to connect a central site with its branch offices, as shown in Figure . You will be introduced to the reachability issue caused by split horizon, and you will learn how to configure subinterfaces to solve this problem.

You will learn about Frame Relay traffic shaping, used for quality of service, and how to configure it. You will also see how to verify and troubleshoot Frame Relay configurations.
