9.2 Using the CDE Text Editor
9.2.2 Using file options
The File Options menu shown in the Figure enables you to perform the following tasks:
  • New - Start a new Text Editor session, in the same window, and discard any current text contents. If the current text has not been saved, you will be prompted to confirm saving or discarding it.
  • Open - Open an existing text file in the current Text Editor window. You will be provided with a window displaying a list of file names to choose from.
  • Include - Include the contents of an existing (text) file. The contents of the included file will be inserted at the current cursor position.
  • Save - Save the current text to the current file name. If you have altered the current text since the last time you saved it, the menu option will display as Save (Needed).
  • Save As - Save the current Text Editor window contents under an alternative file name. This option is automatically chosen when you first use the Save menu option.
  • Print - Print the current text.
  • Close - Close the Text Editor window. If you have not saved the current text, you will be asked if you want to save your changes. If you click the No button, any text that has been added or changed since the last save will be lost.
