Use a floating static route to setup
a backup route that will only appear in the routing table when the
link advertised by the routing protocol fails.
Scenario:
Router B learns about the 10.0.0.0
via RIP with the next hop being 192.168.10.2. Router B also has an
unadvertised link to 10.0.0.0 via Router A. The link between Router
B and Router A is a high cost link that is not to be used unless the
link between Router B and Router C goes down.
Lab Task:
Cable the lab and all interfaces as shown in the diagram. Don't
forget the no shutdown command.
Verify that RIP is configured correctly and all routes are seen.
On Router A the 10.0.0.0 network should be directly
connected but from Router B it should be advertised from Router C
only.
