IP traffic with CHAP authentication between a Cisco 700 and a Cisco IOS software-based router
In this example, you will see how to configure a Cisco 700 series router for remote connectivity to a central-site Cisco IOS software-based router, as shown in Figure .

Cisco 700 Series Configuration
Example shows the Cisco 700 series configuration. It has been separated to provide you with a distinction between the different profile configurations. The first part represents the system-level configuration. The second part is the LAN profile. The last part contains the user profile commands.

Cisco IOS Configuration
Example shows the configuration for the central site to connect on the Cisco 700 series router, as shown in Figure .

Table contains the command description for the configuration of the Cisco IOS router shown in Figure .

Tip: When configuring PPP CHAP with Cisco IOS and Cisco 700 series routers, remember that the password of set ppp secret client has to be the same as the set ppp secret host and the same as the username password statement. Also, the username statement and the map name statement are case sensitive. The passwords are case sensitive as well.
