2.4.3 Configuring asynchronous connections between remote routers

The Figure shows two remote sites that must be connected. Unfortunately, the only lines available in Yellowknife are analog lines. For this reason, Yellowknife will have to connect to the Calgary access server via DDR. The administration has decided to "nail" the line. This means that it will be a permanent dial-on-demand routing (DDR) connection.

Both sites are using Cisco 2509-RJ routers. These routers have two serial, one Ethernet, and eight async ports. Both sites will be using a Hayes Accura 33.6 modem for this connection.
